Knight of Wands
Upright
charge · adventure · passion in motion
The horse is already running. This Knight is the yes that leaves the barn — travel, a pitch, a heat that wants a road — so go, but keep enough seat to steer. Adventure is a virtue until it becomes a way of never arriving; let the dust mean something.
Reversed
reckless ride · anger without aim · trips you do not finish
You may be picking fights with the landscape, or starting journeys the horse cannot finish. Shorten the reins. A smaller quest completed is worth more than a dramatic exit. Knight of Wands reversed is fire that needs a fence, not a shame.
On the card
The rearing horse
Impulse in motion. Fire that does not ask twice.
Desert charge
A lot of heat, not much shade. Aim it.
Plumed helm
Courage you can see. Also: a little theatre.
When it shows up
This looks like sending the message at midnight, booking the ticket, starting before the plan is pretty.
History
A plumed knight charges across desert, staff raised, the horse’s mane and tail like flame. Smith’s salamanders on the armor are the alchemical beast of fire. Waite’s Knights are the suit in transit; this one is the fastest. Golden Dawn called him the airy part of fire — movement, not the hearth.
If you want to sit with it
Where is speed a gift — and where is it just a horse you have not named?
Optional. Nothing is saved.
