Ten staves, a bent back, the town already in sight. You can finish this, but not by adding an eleventh: the teaching is that arrival requires you to still be a person when you get there. Carry what is yours, and ask for a cart for the rest.
Reversed

The bundle can be unstrapped. Some of those wands were never your harvest. Put two down before you reach the gate; the house will still be there. Ten reversed is often the first honest no of a long yes.

A figure staggers toward a town under a bundle of ten staves that hide his face. Smith made the overload literal: fire’s enterprise at its heaviest. Waite’s Ten is oppression of responsibility, not of fate. The destination is visible on purpose — the burden is chosen, which means it can be rearranged.
