Eight of Wands

Upright

swiftness · news in flight · alignment

Eight wands in the air, all going the same way. Things that were stuck are moving — messages, travel, a yes that finally leaves the mouth. Do not oversteer: clear the path and let speed be a gift, one of the simplest good weathers in the deck.

Reversed

delay · crossed wires · haste that scatters

The arrows have met a headwind, or you threw them before you knew the target. Slow one beat. Check the address. Eight reversed is often logistics, not fate — a delay you can work, a haste you can walk back.

When it shows up

This looks like the week everything moves — messages, tickets, a sudden yes.

History

Smith painted eight flowering staves flying as a diagonal across open country, a river and house below, no human figure at all. Waite’s keywords were speed and messages. It is the suit of fire at its most aerial: will become motion. In a pip deck this would be eight rods; here they are literally in flight.

If you want to sit with it

If this is a fast week, what do you need to put down so you can fly with it?

Optional. Nothing is saved.
